As Serowe and surrounding areas prepare for the annual Morupule Coal Mine Cycle Challenge on Sunday 23rd October 2016, Stanbic Bank Botswana once again shows its unwavering support. The Bank will this year sponsor the annual cycling event to the value of P200, 000, 00 making this the 5th consecutive year Stanbic Bank Botswana has supported the event.
“We are proud to sponsor the event once again, a wonderful platform which showcases the means through which sport can bring together a community as well as encourage greater wellbeing. This is, for us as Stanbic Bank, an annual platform that remains close to our hearts, and we are excited to strengthen our relationship with the Morupule Coal Mine Cycling Club further,” said Mr. Sheperd Aisam, Stanbic Bank Botswana, Head of Corporate and Investment Banking. Aisam further encouraged all to come out and show their support for those participating in the event.
The Morupule Coal Mine Cycling Club was formed in 2009 with the aim to improve the level of fitness and wellbeing of employees of Morupule Coal Mine and the surrounding communities. The platform also works to help raise funds to assist less fortunate members of the local community through various charity initiatives. Beginning at Boiteko Junction and ending at the same location, the race is categorised into three different distances: 110km, 60km and 30 km.
The Club is expecting up to 100 cyclists for this year’s edition of the cycle challenge, and encourages the public to come out and show their support for what is set to be a thrilling event.
